Cidade de Nova Sintra, Dec 4 (Bravanews) - With no forecast for receiving late wages, the 36 workers are asking the authorities to take action, as they say they have families and bills to pay.

These workers have been carrying out work to combat locust plagues on the island for a month, hired by the Delegation of the Ministry of Agriculture on the island, but at the end of it they still haven't seen the color of the money.

One of the Group's members sought out Bravanews and claims that it will knock on the doors of other media outlets in order to draw attention to the situation of salary arrears, which is harming families. "We need to pay our bills and support our families, we are just charging what is rightfully ours and nothing more," he said.

He also advanced that they did the work as requested, although without the proper protective equipment. "We were not given gloves or masks, something very important and required when working in contact with chemicals", he said.

Our interlocutor said that they had already spoken several times with the head of the Delegation, but it was advanced that there is no payment forecast.

In addition to there being no date for payment, “lately the delegate from the Ministry of Agriculture has started to make threats that if we continue in this line of asking and demanding payment, next time we will not be considered for new work”, he claims.

For this reason, they decided to ask for intervention from the highest person in charge on the island, but also from the Minister who oversees the sector, because, “we work tired and we want what belongs to us”, he ends.
